E.L. Pruitt Co. is seeking a Senior Service Plumber to join our Service department.

Founded in 1971, E.L. Pruitt Co. is a leading provider of HVAC, plumbing & piping systems as well as civil and site utilities for commercial, industrial and institutional clients in Illinois. We are looking for a highly motivated, self-starter to join our team. This position is located in our Springfield, Illinois office.

Responsibilities:

  • State Master or Journeyman Plumber License
  • ASSE Backflow Certification: Certification for testing, repairing, and certifying backflow preventers (ASSE 5110).
  • Medical Gas (MedGas) Certification: ASSE 6010 certification is crucial if your contractor services hospitals, dental clinics, or labs. (preferred but not required)
  • Commercial System Experience: Minimum 7–10 years troubleshooting commercial drainage, waste, and vent (DWV) systems, grease traps, and interceptors.
  • High-Capacity Water Heaters & Boilers: Deep knowledge of commercial-grade water heaters, storage tanks, booster pumps, and digital mixing valves.
  • Specialized Diagnostic Equipment: Mastery of commercial pipe-inspection cameras, sonic leak detectors, hydro-jetting equipment, and pipe-locating tools.
  • Blueprint & Schematic Literacy: Ability to accurately read and interpret complex architectural drawings, isometric plumbing schematics, and BIM layouts. (preferred but not required)
  • Process Piping: Experience with diverse industrial piping materials and connection methods, including copper press, welded steel, PVC/CPVC schedule 80, and high-density polyethylene (HDPE).
  • Emergency Management: Ability to think critically under pressure to isolate system failures and protect client infrastructure from water damage.
  • Apprentice Mentorship: A track record of training junior plumbers and enforcing strict code compliance and workmanship on the job.
  • Client Communication: Strong communication skills to articulate complex infrastructure failures and deliver accurate repair estimates to facility managers.

Experience Level: Mid-level to Senior (10+ years)
