E.L. Pruitt Co. is seeking a Senior HVAC Technician to join our Service department.

Founded in 1971, E.L. Pruitt Co. is a leading provider of HVAC, plumbing & piping systems as well as civil and site utilities for commercial, industrial and institutional clients in Illinois. We are looking for a highly motivated, self-starter to join our team. This position is located in our Springfield, Illinois office.

Responsibilities

  • Heavy Equipment Mastery: Minimum 7–10 years of hands-on experience with industrial chillers, cooling towers, boilers and heavy commercial RTUs, VRF systems (helpful not required)
  • Advanced Diagnostics: Ability to read complex electrical schematics, piping diagrams and blueprints to troubleshoot intermittent failures, strong troubleshooting abilities.
  • Controls & Automation: Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Direct Digital Control (DDC) protocols like BACnet or LonWorks, is helpful, but not necessarily required
  • Industrial Systems: Experience with specialized industrial environments like cleanrooms, data centers, manufacturing environments or process piping.
  • Mentorship: Willingness and ability to help and encourage apprentices and junior technicians on the job.
  • Customer Relations: Strong communication skills to explain complex technical failures and costly repair options to facility managers.
  • Project Management: Capability to lead large-scale changeouts, retrofits or commissionings without constant supervision.

Experience Level: Mid-level to Senior (10+ years)
